Overview
- This week Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held division-level Public Works Department reviews that collected thousands of proposals and pressed officials to submit action plans for FY 2026-27 so approved work can begin by the end of the month.
- Officials told the CM that Lucknow division submitted 4,204 proposals worth about ₹41,229 crore while Kanpur division submitted 1,374 proposals totalling roughly ₹11,724 crore.
- The CM ordered priority processing for roads, the Chief Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana, state highways, major and minor bridges, ROBs/RUBs, flyovers, connecting roads to religious sites and road-safety projects.
- To curb delays the government directed recovery of compensation for damage to PWD roads, identification and blacklisting of firms that do not start work after tendering, and initiation of FIRs or other action against delinquent firms and officials.
- The PWD reported recent delivery metrics to the CM—Lucknow division has completed 3,238 projects and Kanpur last year approved 2,301 projects of which 1,242 are complete—highlighting both progress made and the backlog the fast-track instructions seek to clear.
