Overview
- Ninety-nine Bengali Hindu families living in Nangla Gosai, Mawana tehsil, Meerut, will be moved to Rasulabad tehsil in Kanpur Dehat, with 50 resettled in Bhaisaya and 49 in Tajpur Tarsauli on Rehabilitation Department land.
- Each family will receive 0.50 acre on a 30-year lease, renewable twice up to 90 years, with leases executed upon payment of the prescribed premium or lease rent.
- Officials said the Meerut relocation complies with National Green Tribunal directions because the current settlement occupies land recorded as a lake.
- The cabinet also approved resettlement of 136 families from Bahraich’s Bharthapur revenue village to Semrahana Gram Panchayat, following a boat accident on October 29, 2025 that killed nine people and prompted a relocation pledge by the chief minister.
- About 1.70 hectares will transfer free of cost to the Revenue Department, permanent housing will be provided under Mukhyamantri/Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and PWD, Rural Development and Jal Jeevan Mission will develop roads, drainage, lighting and drinking water, with the Mihinpurwa SDM handling allotments.
