UP Budget Sets ₹2,111 Crore for Aviation, Earmarks ₹750 Crore for Jewar Expansion

Phase 1 stands completed with trials conducted, with DGCA clearance still pending before inauguration.

  • The government has cleared a shift from two to five runways at Jewar under a multi‑phase expansion to serve the National Capital Region’s future demand.
  • Land acquisition progressed in stages: 1,334 hectares for Phase 1, 1,365 hectares in Phase 2 for an MRO hub and an extra runway, and about 2,053 hectares now being secured for further runways.
  • Phase 1 infrastructure is complete and trial operations were held, with an aerodrome license from the DGCA still pending before an inauguration that leaders say could follow.
