Unknown Worlds Rolls Out Hotfix 3 to Tweak Subnautica 2 Creatures

The patch adjusts predator behaviour and adds technical fixes while the studio commits to non‑lethal mitigation instead of traditional weapons.

Overview

  • Hotfix 3, released Tuesday, June 2, makes targeted creature changes and stability fixes after the game's Early Access launch earlier in May.
  • Patch notes show Hammerheads no longer attack unpiloted Tadpoles, Marrowbreaches deal more damage but attack less often, and Nibblers have reduced perception, slower movement, longer circling, greater multitool sensitivity, and higher damage.
  • The update also fixes DLSS crashes, upgrades DLSS to version 4.5, restores frame generation in more builds, and addresses several multiplayer and crash bugs.
  • Design lead Anthony Gallegos says the team will not add conventional weapons because combat would undermine tension, and plans instead to add biomods, feeders and other non‑lethal mitigation tools in future updates.
  • Player opinion is split: some praise the quick fixes, others argue blanket enemy nerfs weaken the survival challenge and call for difficulty toggles or opt‑in combat while modders have already created lethal workarounds.
