Universal Retires Cosmos Fountain and Debuts Larger Celestial Goodnight

Overview

• The Cosmos Fountain gave its final performance on July 6, 2026 and Universal Celestial Goodnight began nightly on July 7, 2026, replacing the original 15-minute fountain presentation with a new park-closing spectacle.
• Universal Celestial Goodnight uses the park’s existing water features plus more than 350 large fountains, nearly 600 synchronized light fixtures and about seven million LED lights, and now ends with a fireworks finale.
• Universal kept Celestial Park’s physical fountains in place and integrated them into the larger show rather than demolishing the original elements, folding the former standalone attraction into the new production.
• Universal’s operating calendar shows Epic Universe will close at 8:00 p.m. throughout September, a schedule change that follows Comcast’s report of Orlando attendance softening since June and coincides with ongoing attraction capacity and reliability work.
• The fast swap less than 14 months after Epic Universe opened highlights rapid product iteration as the park matures and raises practical effects for guests, including less nighttime ride time, continued limits on annual-pass access, and possible staffing trade-offs with seasonal events.
