Universal Orlando Hotels Launch Limited Summer Program With Giant Sand Sculptures

Resort leaders aim to boost on-property stays by extending themed experiences through hotel lobbies, poolside events, weekend character access

  • The coordinated hotel program was announced June 26 and is active now through August 10 across all 11 on-site Universal Orlando hotels.
  • Each hotel lobby features a large, franchise-themed sand sculpture weighing roughly 600 to 1,200 pounds and taking up to 10 hours to build to create new photo spots tied to properties such as Jaws, Ghostbusters, Shrek and E.T.
  • Hotels are offering limited-time summer food and drink menus alongside Saturday poolside programming that begins at 6:30 p.m. at six properties and includes a live DJ, pool games and giveaways.
  • Hotel guests receive a new exclusive perk with weekend character meet-and-greets at Universal Studios Florida’s Soundstage 5 on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., in addition to existing benefits like Early Park Admission and complimentary transportation.
  • The hotel activations are part of the wider Summer at Universal campaign that also returns park shows and adds Volcano Bay Nights dates, a push designed to lengthen stays, drive on-property spending and give families more low-key evening options.
