Universal Orlando Expands Photo Validation to Hogwarts Express, Confirms Use at Epic Universe Portals

Overview

  • Universal updated its Photo Validation webpage to say Epic Universe will use the system at portal entrances when a Virtual Line is active.
  • New kiosks at King’s Cross for the Hogwarts Express now test the system, with one lane using Photo Validation and another still scanning tickets.
  • The Express entrance at the attraction is also using the photo check, showing trials at more than one access point.
  • Photo Validation lets guests scan a ticket, take a picture, and clear later checkpoints faster under Universal’s Effortless Entry program.
  • Guests can opt out and still enter under staff checks that require adult photo ID, with traditional scanning kept during a phased rollout that began in late 2023 at gates, rides, and temporary Epic Universe stations.
