Overview
- United, which announced the plan Tuesday, will resume daily nonstop service between Houston and Caracas starting August 11 with tickets on sale and final government approval pending.
- The route will use a Boeing 737 MAX 8 with UA1046 departing Houston at 11:45 p.m. and UA1045 leaving Caracas at 8:00 a.m.
- The restart follows U.S. agencies lifting the 2019 ban on direct flights after security reviews detailed in an April 17 Department of Homeland Security notice.
- Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy said the flight will be critical for moving oil sector workers as the two countries rebuild economic activity.
- United becomes the second U.S. carrier to return after American relaunched Miami–Caracas on April 30, marking United’s first Venezuela service since it suspended the route in 2017.
