United Opens Bookings for 787-9 ‘Elevated’ Cabin, Debuting Polaris Studio on SFOSingapore

Early listings show a $499 buy-up to larger Studio suites, with privacy doors not yet available.

Overview

  • United’s first Elevated 787-9 long-haul flights are scheduled SFOSIN on April 22 (UA1) and SFOLHR on April 30 (UA901), with limited domestic SFOIAH use beforehand.
  • The aircraft introduces eight Polaris Studio suites about 25% larger than standard Polaris, featuring a 27-inch 4K OLED screen, wireless charging, Bluetooth and an ottoman in most seats.
  • Upgrades span all cabins, including redesigned Polaris pods, enhanced Premium Plus with privacy dividers and reading lights, and 13-inch 4K screens with Bluetooth at every economy seat.
  • Published pricing for the SFOSIN inaugural shows notable premiums: about $6,258 in Polaris, $2,718 in Premium Plus and roughly $704–$800 in economy, with awards at 300k/200k/75k miles respectively.
  • Systems and hardware remain in rollout: some seat maps still show older layouts, initial Studio access is showing as a $499 per-segment upgrade on select flights, and suite doors are pending certification.
