United and JetBlue Launch Cross-Booking of Flights With Cash, Miles or Points

The move prioritizes cross-booking today, with other benefits to follow in phases.

Overview

  • Customers can now buy eligible United or JetBlue-operated flights on either airline’s website or app using cash, miles or points.
  • Single tickets combining both carriers’ flights are not available yet, with mixed itineraries planned for a later phase.
  • Reciprocal elite perks are targeted for spring, including priority boarding, preferred or extra-legroom seating, checked bags and same-day changes.
  • United MileagePlus members earn award miles on eligible JetBlue flights but do not earn PQF or PQP, and United excludes mileage accrual on JetBlue routes between Newark and AUA, CUN, LAX, LAS and PUJ, with earnings limited to specified fare classes.
  • Commentary notes JetBlue could see a revenue lift from exposure on United’s platforms given MileagePlus’ larger member base, pending the rollout of fuller benefits.
