Uniswap Launches Permissioned Pools to Let Regulated Securities Trade Onchain

The new Uniswap v4 hook embeds issuer-controlled allowlists and wrapped-token plumbing so tokenized funds and equities can use AMM liquidity under compliance.

Overview

  • Uniswap Labs rolled out Permissioned Pools this week with launch partners Securitize, Superstate, and Dowgo to support regulated tokenized funds and equities.
  • Permissioned Pools verify whether a wallet is approved before allowing a swap or liquidity deposit so eligibility checks run onchain inside the pool.
  • The system uses a Permissions Adapter that holds the underlying regulated asset and trades a wrapped representation that is created on entry and removed on exit.
  • Issuers keep admin controls including updating verifiers, authorizing routers and position managers, pausing trades, and unwinding positions while liquidity position NFTs are made non-transferable.
  • The move brings AMM liquidity to institutional tokenization efforts and could speed issuance and trading of regulated onchain securities while creating new compliance responsibilities for issuers and market participants.
