Overview
- SIPTU and Unite have recommended that members accept Labour Court proposals and will put the package to a ballot of ambulance staff.
- The court’s plan covers emergency medical technicians, paramedics, specialist paramedics and supervisors and would deliver pay rises of up to about 23 percent for some grades.
- Under the proposals paramedic scales would rise with a new entry point of €41,808 and a top scale near €59,157 and the new scales would be backdated to January 1.
- The package generally preserves existing terms and conditions, includes a buyout of a cardiac allowance at one-and-a-half times its value, and keeps Saturday and Sunday premium pay unchanged.
- The dispute began after the HSE did not fully implement a 2020 roles and pay review, led to a one-day strike and work‑to‑rule that disrupted services, and now hinges on the ballot result and subsequent industrial relations steps by the HSE.
