Overview
- The Union Cabinet approved the two projects on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, allocating ₹1,299.08 crore for a Central Government General Pool Office Accommodation and ₹1,234.91 crore for a General Pool Residential Accommodation.
- The office complex will provide about 23.25 lakh sq ft of workspace on roughly 5.53 acres and is designed to house about 8,000 central staff with parking for roughly 1,800 cars.
- The GPRA housing campus is planned on 17 acres with 11 towers, 1,504 dwelling units and about 31.30 lakh sq ft of built-up area plus basement parking for about 1,972 equivalent car spaces.
- Both projects will be executed by the Central Public Works Department through the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, funded under central accounts (Head 4216 for GPRA), and must meet minimum GRIHA 4‑Star, ECSBC 2024 and ENS 2024 standards while providing barrier-free access.
- Pre-bid work and tender documents have begun and the government estimates the construction phase will generate about 7 lakh man-days per year with roughly 50,000 man-days per year during operation, while Andhra Pradesh leaders have publicly welcomed the approvals.
