Overview

  • Union opened formal preseason with split-group sport-medical checks at the Charité and on-field fitness work, a process completed across Monday and Tuesday before the first public training on Wednesday.
  • New defensive signings Zeno van den Bosch and Marvin Friedrich took part in the medical examinations as the club moves to register and integrate arrivals.
  • Mauro Lustrinelli met the squad at a stadium barbecue attended by president Dirk Zingler and will be visible to fans at Wednesday’s open session as he begins to implement a more attacking approach.
  • Several players remain absent because of national-team duties or tournaments, notably Rani Khedira, László Bénes and András Schäfer, while reports conflict on whether youth forward Dmytro Bogdanov is at the U19 European Championship in Ukraine or the U19 World Cup in Wales.
