UnidosUS Poll Finds Latinos Tilt Democratic as Many Regret 2024 Trump Vote

High turnout intent plus large undecided shares and sharp regional splits could let shifting Latino views decide close 2026 races.

Overview

  • A new UnidosUS survey of 3,000 registered Latino voters conducted April 27–May 14 shows 54% would back a Democratic House candidate and 27% a Republican with 19% undecided.
  • About one in four Latino voters who supported President Trump in 2024 now say they probably or certainly would not vote for him again and roughly two thirds of Latinos disapprove of his job performance.
  • Economic pocketbook concerns such as cost of living, inflation, jobs and wages top Latino priorities and drive much of the dissatisfaction with current leadership.
  • The poll finds strong support for legal-status pathways for long-residing undocumented immigrants and broad opposition to unconditional increases in ICE funding, with many Latinos reporting fear of immigration enforcement.
  • Regional results differ sharply: Texas Latinos favor Democrats in key matchups including James Talarico over Ken Paxton while Florida Hispanics show more GOP strength in some statewide tests, leaving the bloc highly contestable for the 2026 midterms.
