Overview
- Aurora police said they pulled an unidentified body from a retention pond east of North Farnsworth Avenue during follow-up work on the search for 32-year-old Shafia Murad.
- Murad was last seen near the Chicago Premium Outlets on May 28 and family members reported her missing that evening.
- Relatives told police Murad’s phone, wallet, ID and bank cards were later found at the outlet mall and they have said she needs regular medication for a serious health condition.
- Police said surveillance footage led investigators to search the area near the pond but the coroner must complete an autopsy before the remains can be identified and the manner of death determined.
- Officers asked anyone who was in the outlet area or nearby roads to check dashcam or security footage and to contact Aurora Police Investigations at 630-256-5500 or tips@aurora.il.us with information.
