Overview
- UN estimates released Friday put the number affected at more than 73,000 people across 31 provinces after heavy rains between March 26 and April 6 flooded hundreds of villages.
- Afghan disaster authorities now report at least 148 people dead and 216 injured over two weeks of storms, floods, landslides and lightning, with roof and wall collapses in Nangarhar and Khost among the fatal incidents.
- Housing losses are extensive with more than 9,000 homes damaged, including 958 destroyed and 4,155 partly damaged, leaving thousands in urgent need of shelter.
