UltraTech Tops 200 MTPA in India, Becomes Largest Cement Maker Outside China

A new slate of projects signals a push to 240 MTPA by FY28.

Overview

  • UltraTech Cement, which commissioned three grinding units on Friday, lifted domestic capacity to 200.1 MTPA and took consolidated capacity to 205.5 MTPA.
  • The new 8.7 MTPA comes from units in Shahjahanpur, Patratu and Vizag that tighten supply in key corridors to serve housing and infrastructure demand.
  • The company says ongoing projects backed by over ₹16,000 crore in capital spending aim to raise total capacity toward roughly 240 MTPA by around FY28.
  • UltraTech highlights plans to cut carbon emitted per tonne of cement by using more alternative fuels and raw materials and by promoting greener construction practices.
  • The scale-up blends about 110 MTPA from greenfield and brownfield builds with about 90 MTPA from acquisitions, including L&T Cement, Jaypee, Binani, Century, Kesoram and India Cements.
