Overview
- Ulm separates trash into residual, organic, paper and the yellow sack for packaging, with residual and yellow-sack pickups every 14 days, paper every four weeks, and organic weekly in summer and otherwise every 14 days.
- Pickup dates differ by street, and the EBU website shows an address-specific calendar when you enter your street and house number.
- Bulky waste includes items like wooden furniture, mattresses, metal scrap, sofas and carpets, while asbestos waste, vehicle parts, electrical devices, clothing, mirrors and glass are excluded.
- Households get four free drop-offs at city recycling centers each year, up to 1 cubic meter per visit, plus one free curbside bulky-waste collection up to 2 cubic meters that you book online via myEBU or by phone.
- Large appliances such as washers, fridges and TVs require special handling, with fee-based home collection or drop-off at Grimmelfingen, the only Ulm site that accepts big devices and refrigeration or air-conditioning units.
