Ukraine Strikes Tuapse Oil Refinery Again, Forcing Evacuations

Kyiv’s deep‑strike drone campaign aims to choke Russian fuel flows by hitting refineries far inside Russia.

Overview

  • Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed Tuesday the overnight drone strike on the Rosneft-operated Tuapse refinery, igniting a large fire at the tank farm and prompting evacuations and a deployment of more than 160 emergency responders.
  • The refinery has been hit multiple times this month, with Ukraine saying an April 20 attack destroyed 24 storage tanks after operations were already halted by an April 16 strike.
  • Russian forces launched about 123 combat drones against Ukraine since Monday evening, and Ukraine’s Air Force said it downed 95 as attacks killed civilians in Kryvyi Rih and Chuhuiv and left others injured across several regions.
  • Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defenses intercepted 186 Ukrainian drones overnight across several regions including Krasnodar and occupied Crimea, underscoring sharply conflicting official tallies.
  • Ukraine’s Defense Ministry says its domestically built drones now reach roughly 1,750 kilometers, expanding its ability to target refineries and export terminals deep inside Russia.
