Ukraine Says It Downed 192 of 216 Drones in Overnight Russian Barrage

Kyiv calls the barrage Russia's choice to end a short U.S.-brokered pause.

Overview

  • Ukraine’s Air Force, following Monday night’s mass drone barrage, said it neutralized 192 of 216 UAVs while 25 strikes hit 10 locations.
  • Officials said the wave included Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas drones and Parodiya decoys launched from Russian cities and from occupied Donetsk and Crimea.
  • Ukraine reported using aircraft, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare systems and mobile fire groups to repel the attack.
  • Local authorities reported four people killed and 27 injured, with debris and blasts damaging homes, a Kyiv high-rise roof, a kindergarten in Fastiv and railway equipment in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia ended the brief ceasefire and vowed a response, and the Air Force said up to ten drones were still in Ukrainian airspace as reports came in.
