Ukraine Says It Destroyed Russian Bastion Launcher and Zircon Missiles in Crimea

The strike aimed to curb hypersonic attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Overview

  • Following Tuesday's overnight strike, Ukraine's military intelligence said it destroyed a Russian Bastion-M coastal missile launcher in occupied Crimea.
  • Officials reported another Bastion launcher was damaged and said seven Russian troops were killed or wounded.
  • Two Zircon hypersonic missiles were also destroyed, which Ukraine says Russia has used to hit civilian areas in the south and east.
  • Ukraine’s intelligence service said its drone unit tracked a column of launchers moving to firing positions before directing the strike and later released video of the hit.
  • Defence Blog noted no Zircon launches in Ukrainian Air Force logs after the operation, a tentative sign of short-term disruption.
