Ukraine Downs 161 of 197 Drones in Latest Mass Attack as Kyiv Sends Drone Teams to Jordan

Kyiv is leveraging drone-defense know-how to assist allies to secure more missile interceptors.

Overview

  • Ukraine's Air Force said it neutralized 161 of 197 Shahed-type and other drones launched since the evening of March 8, with hits recorded at eight locations and some UAVs still in the air during the morning update.
  • The General Staff reported 130 combat engagements over the past day, with the most intense fighting around Pokrovsk, Huliaipole, and Kostiantynivka.
  • Ukrainian forces struck multiple Russian and occupation targets, including a Pantsir-S1 system, a BK-16 landing craft, and several drone control centers in Crimea, Belgorod, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk, with damage still being assessed.
  • Regional officials reported at least one civilian killed and 12 injured over the past day, following earlier reports of three killed and more than 20 wounded on March 7 in separate attacks.
  • President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine deployed interceptor drones and specialists to help protect U.S. bases in Jordan and that 11 countries have sought Ukrainian expertise in countering Iranian-designed drones.
