Ukraine Appoints Renewed Naftogaz Supervisory Board With International Experts

The move advances a sector-wide governance renewal bringing independent oversight to state energy companies.

The Cabinet of Ministers appointed a six-member Naftogaz supervisory board composed of four independent internationals and two state representatives.
Independent members are Robert Shleshynsky of Poland, Erik Rasmussen of Denmark, Duncan Nightingale of Canada and Tor Martin Anfinnsen of Norway.
State representatives are Deputy Minister Anna Artemenko and reappointed Cabinet State Secretary Kostyantyn Mar’yevich.
The appointees’ backgrounds include EBRD energy financing, OECD governance practice at Ukrnafta, senior roles at Equinor and expertise in corporate governance and energy.
Officials said governance updates are being finalized at Centrenergo, Ukrainian Distribution Networks, Ukrenergo, Ukrhydroenergo and the gas transmission operator, and Energoatom’s renewed board met on Feb. 26.
