UK Passport Fee Tops £100 as Government Raises Travel Document Charges

The Home Office frames the rise as cost recovery that lowers reliance on general taxation.

Overview

  • The new prices, which took effect Wednesday, lift the standard online adult passport to £102 and a child passport to £66.50.
  • Other fees rise across the board, with UK postal applications now £115.50 for adults and £80 for children, overseas online applications £116.50 and £75.50, and the premium one-day service £239.50.
  • Applying online remains the cheapest option at £13.50 less than post, and HM Passport Office urges use of the digital service.
  • The Electronic Travel Authorisation for visitors increases from £16 to £20, a 25% jump.
  • The government says the changes cover processing, consular help and border checks, marking a third yearly rise after increases in 2023 and 2024.
