Overview
- Jerome Ruben, 24, was arrested Jan. 9 by the Harris County Violent Persons Task Force two days after the TDECU branch on the University of Houston campus was robbed.
- He is charged with aggravated robbery in the campus case and with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, and aggravated robbery stemming from a Dec. 17 incident that began at a Baytown cash store and continued in South Houston.
- ABC13 reports his total bond at $6 million, and judges noted he was on probation for a prior aggravated robbery at the time of his arrest.
- Investigators say Flock Safety cameras, exterior surveillance video, and a Jan. 6 Texas DPS photo array linked Ruben and his vehicle to the Dec. 17 case.
- Sources say officers recovered a black hijab, a black dress, and a large amount of currency, and workers reported the robber wore fake breasts to disguise himself; investigators have not confirmed any link to an Oct. 28 robbery at the same branch.
