UConn Lands Wofford Scorer Nils Machowski From Transfer Portal
The high-scoring Wofford guard addresses UConn's backcourt depth needs this offseason.
Overview
- Machowski, a 6-foot-3 guard from Berlin, committed to UConn on Tuesday after visiting Storrs over the weekend, according to multiple reports.
- He averaged 17.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists at Wofford last season while hitting 38.2% from three, and he is projected to be a reserve behind Braylon Mullins at the two.
- UConn sought help in the guard room with Solo Ball set for a medical redshirt, backups Malachi Smith and Alec Millender out of eligibility, and freshman Jacob Furphy transferring to Boston College.
- He joins fellow portal additions Najai Hines from Seton Hall, Nik Khamenia from Duke and Oskar Giltay from Stanford, bringing the roster to 10 players as staff targets a rotational power forward next.
- Before Wofford, he played point guard in Alba Berlin’s U19 program and logged three 30-point games last season, including a 37-point, 8-for-11 night from deep against The Citadel.
