- The update adds a free story quest called Black Tides that serves as a concluding chapter for Naoe and Yasuke and includes about two hours of narrative content tying the plot to Edward Kenway.
- Players must finish the main campaign plus the post‑launch quests A Critical Encounter and A Puzzlement to access Black Tides while the Claws of Awaji expansion is not required.
