Overview
- Ubisoft officially revealed Rayman Legends Retold on Tuesday, June 2 during PlayStation's State of Play, and said it will launch Oct. 1 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
- The game is a full rebuild in Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan that keeps the original 2D platforming rules but presents characters and environments as 3D models in a 2.5D staging.
- Retold preserves core campaign structure, four-player local co-op, musical stages and Kung-Foot while adding a new sixth world with a final boss, new Dragon Ride 3D levels, voiced cutscenes and roughly 55 minutes of new music.
- Ubisoft will sell Retold for $40 and will bundle Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition with copies of the game so players get both the retelling of Legends and an updated Origins package.
- Early hands-on previews praise the faithful, responsive platforming and higher production values but note the shift from hand-drawn 2D to a 3D art direction may divide longtime fans while serving as a launch point for future Rayman projects.
