Overview
- The Last Rites update went live Thursday, August 6, 2026, as a free next‑gen rework for owners on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC and adds a standalone story mission centered on a masked antagonist called La Llorona.
- The release brings technical upgrades that include native 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, improved distance rendering, enhanced lighting and shadows, 3D audio, DualSense haptics and faster SSD load times.
- A new set of gameplay tools called Ghost Parameters gives players deep customization of difficulty, enemy behaviour, UI and environment, including authentic reloading, the option to carry one or two primary weapons, optional friendly fire, fixed time‑of‑day and weather settings, and HUD toggles.
- Ubisoft has restored the long‑removed Predator mission, unlocked hundreds of previously unobtainable items for free, and made Wildlands free to play from August 6–10 with anniversary discounts across platform stores; digital owners receive the upgrade at no extra cost while disc owners must keep their disc inserted to play.
- As part of its 25th anniversary, Ubisoft confirmed a new Ghost Recon game is in development and launched the Ghost Recon Insider Program to recruit players for closed testing, a move that positions Last Rites as both a player-facing update and a way to re-engage the community ahead of the next title.
