Ubisoft Dates 'Black Flag Resynced' for July 9 as Leaks Point to AC1 Remake

Reports of a 2007 Assassin’s Creed remake suggest Ubisoft is doubling down on remakes.

Overview

  • Ubisoft has officially unveiled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced with a July 9 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
  • Darby McDevitt, the original Black Flag lead writer, says he wrote two new scenes for Resynced and revised one existing scene.
  • Known leakers j0nathan and Tom Henderson report that a full remake of the 2007 Assassin’s Creed has been in development since at least 2023, though Ubisoft has not confirmed it.
  • A Nintendo insider claims a Switch 2 version of Black Flag Resynced is in the works, but Ubisoft has not announced any support for that platform.
  • Ubisoft’s CEO previously said players could expect multiple Assassin’s Creed remakes, and the first game is the only mainline entry not playable on modern consoles, which helps explain reports of a possible remake near the series’ 20th anniversary in 2027.
