UAE Forecasted to Hit Up to 52°C in Desert During Eid Al Adha

The National Centre of Meteorology says a 52°C reading would top last May’s 51.6°C and has prompted public health and worker-safety warnings.

Overview

  • The NCM has issued an elevated Eid weather alert and forecasts very hot conditions nationwide with inland deserts far hotter than the coast.
  • The bureau warned that localized desert highs could reach about 52°C in Al Quaa and roughly 49°C in Al Ain on Friday, which would exceed last May’s 51.6°C benchmark.
  • City forecasts for the holiday week show Liwa near 45°C, interior areas up to 47–48°C on some days, Dubai and Abu Dhabi around 41–43°C, and Fujairah in the mid-30s.
  • Officials and doctors urged precautions for the elderly, children, pregnant women, people with chronic illness and outdoor workers, and recommended hydration, shade and scheduling activities outside peak sun hours.
  • Forecasters also warned of rising overnight humidity with possible fog, light to moderate winds that may produce blowing dust, and slight seas in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea, all factors that could affect travel and outdoor events.
