UAE Fast-Tracks West–East Pipeline to Double Exports via Fujairah by 2027

The upgrade strengthens a route that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz.

Overview

  • Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, who chaired an Adnoc Executive Committee meeting Friday, ordered the company to speed up the West–East pipeline expansion with start-up targeted in 2027.
  • Adnoc says the project will double crude export capacity routed through the Port of Fujairah on the Gulf of Oman.
  • Published figures put the existing HabshanFujairah line at 1.5 to 1.8 million barrels a day, which implies roughly 3 to more than 3.5 million barrels a day after the upgrade.
  • The pipeline carries oil from Abu Dhabi’s onshore Habshan fields to Fujairah and avoids the Strait of Hormuz, reducing transit risk and supporting steadier exports during regional tension.
  • Leaders at the meeting also noted progress on TA’ZIZ Phase 1 in Al Ruwais, reflecting Adnoc’s broader push to expand infrastructure and build new industrial value chains.
