Overview
- Temporary structure work collapsed at an under-construction multi-storey building in Sector 144, under the Sector 142 police station area, on Sunday afternoon.
- The deceased were identified as Mantu Singh, 45, from Bihar’s Banka district, and Shibu, 24, from Jharkhand’s Dumka district, while a third worker remains hospitalised in stable condition.
- DCP Shakti Mohan Awasthi said three labourers fell when the structure gave way during shuttering work and two later died during treatment at a nearby hospital.
- Police took the site supervisor and the contractor into custody for questioning, are recording witness statements, and say legal action will follow if safety lapses are established.
- Local residents and co-workers alerted authorities and helped with the rescue, and an NDRF team and district officials reached the site, according to reports.
