Seismic services say tremors of this size at about 23 kilometers depth are typically imperceptible to people.

  • Epicenters were located between Elchingen’s Thalfingen and Oberelchingen districts, roughly one south and one north of the A8, at about 23 kilometers depth.
  • Erdbebendienst Südwest classified the events as very weak, reporting no felt observations and no damage.
  • The Landeserdbebendienst Baden‑Württemberg has logged both quakes, while Erdbebendienst Bayern had not yet listed them at the time of reporting.
  • Seismologists note that earthquakes are typically felt from around magnitude 2.0, with a nearby M1.8 recorded near Pfaffenhofen an der Roth in 2020.
