Two Teens Killed After Car Leaves Country Lane in Kent

Police are appealing for dashcam footage to support the collision inquiry.

  • Police and paramedics were called at about 8:30pm on Saturday, January 3, after a blue Ford Fiesta left Old Ferry Road in Iwade near Sittingbourne.
  • A 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third occupant, a 16-year-old girl, was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.
  • Detectives from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV to come forward, quoting reference BN/JM/001/26 or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously.
  • Multiple SECAmb crews, critical care paramedics, the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, and Kent Fire and Rescue Service units attended, including three fire engines plus technical rescue and water safety teams.
  • The carriageway was closed between Raspberry Hill Lane and Sheppey Way during inquiries, with flowers placed at the roadside and local officials renewing calls for safety improvements on the stretch.
