Overview

  • The Kenwood Middle School bus crashed Friday around noon on Highway 70 in Carroll County, leaving two students dead.
  • The wreck involved a Tennessee DOT dump truck and a Chevrolet Trailblazer, with 25 students and five adults on the bus.
  • Seven helicopters flew patients to trauma centers in Nashville and Memphis after a large multi-agency response.
  • Four children at Vanderbilt’s Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital were listed in stable condition, and 19 others were evaluated and released at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Carroll County.
  • The Highway Patrol said the dump truck does not appear to have contributed to the crash as the cause remains under investigation, and the school district notified families and set a reunification site in Huntingdon.
