Overview
- The owner of Laxmi Narasimha PG, 37-year-old Madhav Matle, was fatally assaulted outside the property on Monday evening, June 22, between about 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm.
- Police say the conflict began when two college students were washing their legs with tap water inside the PG and Matle objected, which led to a heated argument.
- Officers reported that Matle produced a cricket bat during the fight, the students allegedly took the bat from him and used it to beat him, and Matle later died of his injuries.
- The accused, identified as Rakesh (21) and Don Brite Son (20), have been arrested and are in custody at Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station and are being questioned.
- Investigators are collecting forensic and witness evidence to establish the exact sequence of actions and have said the suspects may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time, which will factor into upcoming charges.
