Overview
- Gardaí confirmed two separate fatalities: a driver in his 80s in Ardee, Co Louth, and a pedestrian in his 30s in Ardfert, Co Kerry who died in hospital.
- The Louth collision occurred shortly after 3pm on March 5 on the N33 at Cappocksgreen; the driver was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he later died.
- Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are examining the Louth scene, local traffic diversions are in place, and the Coroner has been notified with a post-mortem to follow.
- The Kerry incident happened at about 9:20pm on March 2 in the Tubrid More area of Ardfert; the pedestrian was critically injured, taken to University Hospital Kerry, and died on March 5.
- Gardaí say the Kerry driver left the scene and are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage from 7:30pm to 9:30pm in the Ardfert area, urging contacts to Tralee Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
