Two Released on Bail in Stowmarket Runner Sexual Assault Inquiry

Detectives continue inquiries after arrests on suspicion of sexual assault, attempted rape, assisting an offender.

  • Police said a 34-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were released on bail after questioning at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.
  • The man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape, while the woman was detained on suspicion of assisting an offender on December 3.
  • The assault occurred on November 19 between 5:45am and 6am on a pathway off Iliffe Way, where a woman in her 30s was pulled to the ground and sexually assaulted.
  • An eFit was issued along with a description of the suspect as white, about 5ft 10in, medium build, wearing a dark beanie, a thick dark rain jacket and dark trousers, with a strong smell of cigarettes and cannabis reported.
  • A 38-year-old arrested on November 23 was released without charge on November 25 as officers continue to support the victim and appeal for information.
