Overview
- Two separate shootings in North Philadelphia on Friday evening, Aug. 14, sent two male victims to Temple University Hospital with one in critical condition and the other listed as stable.
- The first shooting was reported about 8:15 p.m. in the 2100 block of North Gratz Street where officers found a young‑adult male with multiple gunshot wounds.
- Roughly 15 to 20 minutes later a 23‑year‑old man with a gunshot wound to his back arrived at Temple after an incident near North 25th and West Elkhart Streets and was placed in stable condition.
- Investigators recovered roughly 20 spent shell casings at the Gratz scene and about 20–25 at the 25th/Elkhart scene, and police are holding a Ford Fusion that transported the second victim while they process evidence.
- The Philadelphia Police Shooting Investigation Group is leading the probe, has released no suspect or motive information, and says public tips and footage could help establish whether the two shootings are connected as part of a recent pattern of violence near Temple Hospital.
