Two More Arrested in Himanshu Singh Killing, Bringing Total to 16

The special investigation team says recovered scooter and sharp weapons link suspects to the June 27 attack with a chargesheet planned soon

Overview

  • The June 27 attack outside the Double Down Bar in Jamshedpur left Karni Sena youth leader Himanshu Singh dead and his friend Pratiyush critically injured.
  • Jharkhand Police’s SIT on Wednesday arrested Raghavendra Kumar (also called Ghere) and Ganesh Machhua, taking the number of people detained in the case to 16.
  • Investigators recovered a TVS Activa scooter that they say was used to move the main accused after the attack and seized sharp weapons including choppers, axes and knives.
  • Police say Ganesh Machhua sheltered and helped principal suspects evade arrest and has prior convictions under the Excise Act; the main accused Vishwanath Mandal, known as Bodra, surrendered to a court earlier and is in judicial custody.
  • Authorities say the probe is nearly complete, a chargesheet is expected to be filed soon, and courts will now decide remands and formal charges while the injured survivor remains in critical condition.
