- The Southern Delta Aquariids and the Alpha Capricornids are forecast to peak in late July, with maximum activity concentrated overnight July 30–31 according to the American Meteor Society and multiple observatories.
- The Southern Delta Aquariids come from debris tied to comet 96P/Machholz and can produce about 15–25 meteors per hour under dark skies, but their streaks are usually faint and easy to wash out with bright moonlight.
- The Alpha Capricornids originate from comet 169P/NEAT and supply far fewer meteors—around five per hour—but they often produce slow, bright fireballs that stand a better chance of being seen in a moonlit sky.
- Observers are advised to watch after midnight through dawn, let their eyes dark adapt for 20–30 minutes, use the naked eye with a wide field of view, and put the Moon behind buildings or terrain to improve chances of spotting meteors.
- Skywatchers who want darker conditions should plan for the Perseid peak on Aug. 12–13, which follows a new moon and promises far better visibility than the late‑July overlap.
