Two Men Charged Over East Belfast Killing

A Public Prosecution Service review will decide whether the case moves from police inquiry to a full prosecution.

Overview

  • Police say Nicholas “Nicky” Gordon was seriously assaulted in his Holywood Road flat on 12 May and died in hospital four days later on 16 May.
  • Two men, aged 25 and 31, were arrested in Scotland on 18 May, brought to Northern Ireland and charged on 21 May with murder and related offences.
  • The charges include murder, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear, threats to kill, aggravated burglary and theft of the victim’s bank card and phone.
  • Both men are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on 22 May and all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service before any prosecution proceeds.
  • Detectives from the PSNI Major Investigation Team are still gathering evidence, have asked the public for CCTV and dashcam footage, and have unconditionally released two people who were earlier arrested.
