Overview
- The suspected attack left a 42-year-old man injured and he was taken to hospital after emergency services found him on Durar Drive and Ardshiel Avenue in Clermiston on Thursday.
- Officers cordoned the residential streets and forensic teams recovered a crossbow arrow, a metal bar and several blood-stained items at the scene.
- Multiple people were arrested during the response, and a 60-year-old man who had been held was later released without charge.
- Two Edinburgh men, Callum Ness, 32, and Dean Gallagher, 34, appeared privately at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday charged with offences including assault causing severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger to life; they made no plea and were granted bail.
- Police Scotland says enquiries and forensic work are ongoing, they are not seeking further identifications, and the case will return to court as investigators probe motive and any wider involvement while the injured man continues to receive treatment.
