Overview
- The Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation after a report at a Kingfisher Court address on Thursday, 9 July, and later traced inquiries to woodland in Borstal, Kent where a man was found deceased.
- Officers found the body in Borstal Recreation Ground on Friday, 10 July, and while formal identification is pending detectives say they believe they know the victim’s identity and have informed next of kin.
- Joshua Miller, 32, has been charged with murder and preventing a lawful burial and Jamie Cooper, 27, has been charged with preventing a lawful burial; both were remanded in custody ahead of a magistrates’ hearing.
- A third man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail and both Metropolitan and Kent forces say there is no wider risk to the public as inquiries and forensic work continue.
- Detectives have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact police with reference CAD 9504/9JUL as they pursue cross‑county enquiries and specialist support is offered to the victim’s family.
