Overview
- North Yorkshire Police said Vapes and Phones on Gillygate was broken into at about 4.30am on Wednesday, February 25.
- Two men — one on a bicycle and one on foot — reached the store via the Bootham end, triggered the alarm, then left toward Bootham, reportedly empty-handed.
- Officers traced two local men aged 45 and 38 to a York address and arrested them at about 3.20am on Thursday, less than 24 hours after the break-in.
- Forensic examinations have been completed and CCTV from the area is being collated and analysed as enquiries continue.
