Overview
- Two men in their 20s were found injured outside the Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square after emergency services were called at about 2.25pm on Thursday, June 11.
- A man in his 20s suffered serious stab wounds and was taken to hospital where he was later described as stable, while a second man sustained cuts to his hand.
- West Midlands Ambulance Service sent a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic who gave advanced trauma care at the scene before the hospital transfer.
- Police set up a large cordon across Centenary Square that was removed in the evening, said a lorry seen in the taped area was unrelated, and two men were arrested overnight on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
- Detectives are treating the attack as an isolated incident, officers remain in the area for reassurance, and the force has asked anyone with information or footage to contact 101 or Crimestoppers quoting log 2914 of June 11.
