Overview
- A group of eight second-year students from Gajra Raja Medical College went to Tigra Dam for a picnic and two students slipped into deep water on Saturday evening, according to police and classmates.
- Rescue teams from the State Disaster Response Force and local divers conducted an overnight search that lasted about 17–19 hours before the second body was recovered on Sunday afternoon.
- The deceased were identified as Ayush Srivastava of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, and Gopal Agarwal of Bina, Sagar, and classmates found their shoes and clothes on the rocky bank before alerting police.
- Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem, families have been notified, and Tigra police have registered a case and opened an investigation into why the students entered the restricted Kachchi Paar area.
- Kachchi Paar is a restricted zone roughly three kilometres from the boat club known for very deep water, muddy and rocky banks and seasonal wildlife hazards, facts that made the recovery difficult and could prompt tighter site controls or college safety reviews.
