Two Lorry–Pedestrian Collisions in South Staffordshire Leave One Dead, One Seriously Injured

Two same-day incidents have triggered large emergency responses and active police appeals for footage to support ongoing inquiries.

Overview

  • A man was struck and confirmed dead at the scene in Wombourne after a lorry collision at the junction of Wombourne Park and Bridgnorth Road on Monday, with paramedics and the air ambulance attending.
  • Staffordshire Police have informed the deceased man's next of kin, provided specialist support, and say the lorry driver remained at the Wombourne scene to assist enquiries.
  • A separate collision in Great Wyrley in the early afternoon saw a pedestrian taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a serious condition after being hit on Walsall Road.
  • Emergency crews deployed multiple resources to both incidents, including ambulances, MERIT trauma teams, Midlands Air Ambulance and fire crews, and local roads and bus service 15 were diverted.
  • Police investigations are ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage to help establish what happened and to guide next steps in each case.
